Tonga first country to sign Obama's nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The South-Pacific island nation of Tonga today were the first country to sign the President Obama's nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty.

While a worthy statement, critics were quick to point out that Tonga has no weapon development capabilities, let alone nuclear weapon capabilities. They also pointed out, that they do not currently have an army, navy or air force and the last time they were at war as a nation, was centuries ago when they used to sail to Samoa for a bit of biff.

If a nuclear weapon were to fall into Tonga's hands, the country would need to also by a fighter plane as Tonga Air, the nation's carrier, often struggles to keep to schedule, let alone bomb someone and sailing across the the pacific in a double-hulled canoe is not really sufficient for starting a nuclear war.

Political commentators in Tonga have said that the likely reason for the Prime Minister signing the Non-Proliferation treaty is that it enabled him to take a free trip to America with 12 of his closest advisors who just happen to be family and that the King of Tonga had a hankering for some KFC but couldn't be bothered heading out himself.
