Government should consider plastic bag levies as New Zealanders to lazy and cheap - Greens.

28th October 2009
Green Party leader Russel Norman has called on the government to introduce compulsory plastic bag levies after it was demonstrated that New Zealanders do not give a flying fuck about the environment. This follows the New World supermarket chain's decision to withdraw the 5c charge from plastic bags following general consumer whining.

Plastic bag levies have worked in countries such as Bangladesh, Australia, Germany, Denmark and Ireland. However,  New World supermarkets forgot the New Zealanders are generally much more backwards than citizens of these other countries. New Zealanders often bleat on to any poor sap who'll engage them in conversation about how green they are and how much they love the environment, this, despite the country's woeful public transport, high levels of car ownership and  per capita carbon emissions higher than China and India combined.

It was found that New Zealanders fall into one of 4 general categories categories (i) too cheap to pay 5c for a plastic bag, (ii) too lazy or stupid to bring a bag from home, (iii) want to live in a clean and green environment but not if it involves having to alter their life in anyway and (iv) the remainder are a bunch of moany gits.

Sharon Sharonsin, a mother from Birkenhead said: "After I spent $250 dollars on  10 bags of fish fingers, chips and other frozen food-like product in stick form, I'll be damned if I'm going to spend another 50c on bags, sure I could reuse the bags but then what would I burn in the backyard?"
