Following a 2-hour rambling and incoherent speech that reached new levels of tedium, even by United Nations standards, the world was reminded why Libya had been banned from the UN for 40 years.

Libya's leader Colonel Gadaffi, had 40 years worth of built-up, crazed and incensed ranting to let out. He began by predictably criticising Israel, referring to it as "the Zionist state" only. The British foreign secretary, David Milliband, was heard to say : "Always with the bloody Jews".

Colonel Gadaffi's speech quickly deteriorated even further, reading his speech from notes he had scrawled on the back of his hand and up his arm, he spoke in depth of his best gardening tips, his trip to the empire state building and presented his "proof" that crop circles in English countryside were the signs of an impending alien invasion, this took 45 minutes of his speech.

At one point he embarrassed President Obama by saying he should be president for ever  and ever, and then proceeded to chase him round the assembly hall trying to hug him.

His speech was met by fairly unanimous changes in emotions. Initially there was outrage followed by confusion, then boredom and at the 60 minute mark of his speech, loud snoring.
